OP is back with another original. This time it's kind of a sad one rather than a fun one?

Unfortunately like a lot of Asia, India is still a very colorist country.

This post will cover some actresses who have been accused of lightening/bleaching their skin.


The two main actresses this post will cover are Deepika Padukone and Kajol. Both women are the most discussed in regards to skin lightening as fans feel that the differences in their skin tone from before and after is most drastic.

Deepika is first rumored to undergo skin lightening treatment in 2014/2015 when she became a favorite of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In 2015, Deepika played the role of "Mastani" (an Indian princess who was known to be very pale, almost translucent), the original first choice for the role was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has always been much lighter than Deepika. It is alleged that at the advice of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Deepika has skin whitening (glutathione) injections.




Since 2015, it is rumored that Deepika still regularly gets glutathione injections for a lighter complexion.

However, the process seems to be temporary as she still sometimes has her original olive complexion.



Deepika has denied the skin lightening accusations by saying "There was a rumor that I got surgery to lighten my skin, C'mon who even does that?"

Kajol has denied the skin lightening accusations by saying that she only looked darker/tanner when she was younger because of spending too much time outside in the sun without sunscreen for work.

"For 10 years of my life, I was working all the time under the sun, which is why I got tanned! And now I am not working in the sun anymore. So I've got untanned! Its not a skin whitening surgery, it's a stay at home surgery".


Now OP will just a quick run-down of other actresses who are believed to have lightened their skin through whatever procedure whether through makeup, creams, glutathione injections/tablets.
